why hemp?

Hemp can be grown without the need for pesticides and herbicides and isn't as fussy about the soil in which it grows compared to it's fabric competitors. Hemp cleans the soil instead, removing toxins. Because of this, hemp can be grown on the same land again and again and again.

Hemp is one of the fastest-growing natural fibres on earth. It produces significantly more usable fibre per hectare than cotton or flax. It requires minimal water and far less land to produce the same amount of material as it would for conventional linen bedding.

Hemp is one of nature’s most effective carbon absorbers!. Plants remove lots of CO₂ from the atmosphere — even more per hectare than many forests. Better still, the carbon captured is stored within the fibre itself, locked away in there, kinda forever.

Hemp fabric is super antimicrobial. Why should we care about that? Antimicrobials prevent bacteria, fungus and other unwanted microorganisms and germs from making a home of your sheets. This makes hemp sheets a great choice for people with asthma and allergies.

Hemp is breathable, helping keep you cool in warmer weather by allowing airflow. It’s also resistant to mould and odours, keeping your bed feeling fresher for longer.

For winter time, hemp is an insulating fabric that stays warm so you won’t have to worry about slipping inside an icy cocoon at night. Quite the opposite. Hemp will trap your natural body heat to keep you toasty.

Hemp fibre bundles taken from the plant's stalk (from which fabric is woven) are super long (5x the length of flax) and therefore are considerably stronger. You can rest assured your hemp bedding will last for years.

We might feel pricier than a cotton set, but we won’t need replacing any time soon.
