the intention
S&S is based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia and is a small business run solely by me, Sarina. This brand is the product of my mission to attain bed sheets in earth's most magical of material... hemp.
I was inspired to start this business during the pandemic as I saw how much linen bedding was being bought around me. Hemp, however, has even more benefits for the Earth and was less accessible in comparison. I wanted to promote it as the leader in sustainable fabrics that it is; just as luxurious as linen, but even kinder to our planet. So, I set out to birth the bed linen of my dreams; natural, sustainable, soft, silky, breathable and perfect for every season.

the fabric
Solace and Still linen is made from 100% pure hemp, an extremely sustainable material. Hemp fabric is made using fibres from the stalks of the Cannabis sativa plant - a versatile and multi-useful plant with lots of benefits for you and for the earth. When you’re no longer using our sheets, they’re completely biodegradable and can return back to the earth. The hemp I use is sourced from the mountain region of Anhui, China.
manufacturing
Solace and Still bedding is not mass manufactured. I have designed Solace and Still sheets and collaborated with a small team who make my product in small batches. The offcuts make the tote bags, so there is zero fabric wastage. I have worked closely with my overseas team to ensure that my sheets are not only sustainable, but ethical too. Their fair working conditions is a priority and has been audited to make sure of this, certified with the highest rating on the Amfori BSCI System.
dyes
My sheets are STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified. The certification independently verifies that no harmful chemicals are used throughout the entire production process.
Why didn’t I use plant dyes? Plant dyes fade and discolour relatively quickly. Especially given how often bed sheets are washed, I decided to use dyes that are deigned to last a lifetime, just like your bedding.
